Educational Toy & Resource Sale

To support teachers going back to school with additional resources, we decided have a Toy Sale.  We sold many items to teachers that we had and were donated by people in our community.  It was a pay-what-you-can style sale and all of the money we collected was going to be used to buy backpacks and lunch bags for kids in need in the community.  We raised $1,602 at our sale.

When our sale was over we were surprised by a donation by a teacher of 70 BRAND NEW Backpacks and now we could use the money to fill them! Belinda's Place and many local schools were given full backpacks to distribute as needed.

Food 4 Families

When we heard how many people in our community were now using our local food bank, members Emily and Sophia suggested the KIDS SQUAD should help! Donations came from families, neighbours, friends, schools, clubs and sports teams!  BulkBarn Newmarket generously donated the bags to our project.

We were able to fill 278 bags which was 3,685 lbs... equivalent to a full grown Hippopotamus... of non-perishable food items!  We also donated $1260 in cash donations and 100 $25 BulkBarn gift cards to the Newmarket Food Pantry.  It was a HUGE SUCCESS thanks to everyone who helped us surpass our goal!!

Jars of Joy

During lockdown, we made jars filled with notes and positive messages to secretly put on our friend's and neighbour's doorsteps.  We wanted them to know we were thinking of them while schools and sports were closed.  We challenged each person who got a jar to pass on the kindness!  Our project spread WAY outside of our neighbourhood, across Ontario, and all the way to San Francisco and England... and the kindness chain is still going!!

We were able to get 400+ Jars of Joy out into the world.

Mail-a-Hug

The KIDS Squad was able to make 340 hugs in two weeks just in time for Valentines Day!

Squad Member: Brooklyn shared her idea with the group and together we made it happen.  Some recipients were: All of the residents at Roxborough Retirement & Alex Muir Retirement, and the all of the Nurses in the ER at Southlake Hospital.
